You can duplicate a page in WordPress without a plugin by copying all of its blocks into a new page, then rebuilding the page settings that do not come with them. WordPress 7.1.2 does not include a core page-level Duplicate command. The built-in copying method is useful when you want to reuse an existing content layout while giving the new page its own title and purpose.
Treat this as a content copy with a settings review. Paragraphs, images and buttons belong to the copied blocks, but the new page has its own draft status and other page-level choices. Keeping those two parts separate helps you avoid publishing a page that looks familiar but still has incomplete settings or links intended for the original.
Steps to duplicate a page in WordPress without a plugin
1. Identify the source page and settings
Open Pages → All Pages and choose the page whose content you want to reuse. Read through it before copying, noting which sections belong in the new page and which will need rewriting. Reusing a layout is most helpful when the new page has a related purpose and the block sequence still makes sense.
Open the Page tab and note the original’s template, parent page and featured image where used. You will need to review those choices on the new page because copying blocks does not transfer the complete page setup. Write down what matters rather than relying on the visual similarity of the content afterward.
2. Copy all page blocks
In the page editor, open the three-dot Options menu at the top right. Under its Tools section, choose Copy all blocks. WordPress displays “All content copied.” This is the built-in command for taking the source content into a new page without installing a duplicator plugin.
Wait for the confirmation before leaving the source. Keep the source page’s purpose in mind as you proceed: its blocks are a starting point, including any Button blocks and their links. The copying command does not decide which wording or destinations should change for the new page you are about to create.
3. Create a page and paste the blocks
Go to Pages → Add Page and type a new title. About Copy can serve as a temporary example, although the finished title should explain the new page’s actual subject. Click the empty line that says “Type / to choose a block” so the paste goes into the content area.
Press Command+V on a Mac or Ctrl+V on Windows. The copied blocks appear together, including buttons with their existing links. Review the opening and final blocks to confirm that you have the material you expected. The earlier page creation guide covers the surrounding editor controls if you need them.
4. Rewrite the copied content
Work through the pasted blocks in reading order. Replace the opening explanation, section text and any details that refer only to the original page. For example, a copied information page may have a useful sequence of introduction, photograph and contact action, while every paragraph still needs a different subject.
Check each button with particular care because its link was copied along with the block. A familiar label can hide a destination that no longer fits. Use the button linking guide if a destination needs changing, and make the button’s visible text agree with the page it will open.
5. Reapply the page settings
Open the new page’s Page tab. It starts with Status Draft, a Slug generated from the new title, Parent set to None and no featured image. These settings belong to the new page rather than being a duplicate of the original’s settings. Review them before treating the copied content as a finished page.
Set a featured image, parent or template again if the new page should use them. For a template choice, the Template row opens Change template and the Choose a template window. Use the source notes as a reference, but choose what fits the new content rather than reproducing every setting automatically.
6. Save the draft and preview the page
Click Save draft. Back on the Pages screen, the new page is listed as a draft beside the original; the example title would appear as “About Copy — Draft”. This gives you a distinct page to work on while preserving the source as its own entry.
Use View and Preview in new tab to read the new draft with the site’s theme. Inspect the content as a new piece of writing, including the title, photograph and button destinations. If it is ready for publication, use the page’s Publish action and complete the second Publish confirmation. Otherwise, retain the draft while you finish the remaining changes.
7. Consider a reusable pattern
For repeated use, you can turn a group of blocks into a pattern. In the original page, select all blocks by pressing Command+A or Ctrl+A twice. Open the block toolbar’s Options menu and choose Create pattern. A pattern stores a group of blocks that you can insert into pages through the Block Inserter.
Choose this route when you expect to reuse the same arrangement regularly. For a single new page, Copy all blocks may be enough. The Duplicate item in that block toolbar menu has a different scope: it copies selected blocks inside the current page. It does not create a second page in the Pages list.
Common problems
No Duplicate action on the Pages screen
Core WordPress 7.1.2 does not provide that page command. The hover actions are Edit, Quick Edit, Trash and View; use Copy all blocks in the editor for this workflow.
Missing featured image or parent
Only the blocks were copied. Set the featured image, parent and template again where needed, using the new page’s own settings.
Copied button with the original destination
Button links are included in the copied blocks. Review each destination, edit any that no longer fit, and test the links after the new page is published.
FAQ
Does this method duplicate a page in WordPress without a plugin completely?
It copies the page’s blocks into a new page. You still need to review the new title, slug, featured image, parent and template because this is not a complete settings clone.
Is the block toolbar’s Duplicate command a page duplicator?
It copies the selected blocks within the same page. Use a new page and paste the copied blocks when you need a separate page entry.
Can I keep the new copy unpublished?
The new page begins as a draft. Use Save draft and the preview controls while you revise its content and settings.
Summary
Copy all blocks provides the content for a second page, while the new page’s settings need their own review. Rewrite the borrowed text, inspect copied links and preview the result before publication. Save a pattern when the same block arrangement will support repeated future pages.
