Scope
What’s included, and what isn’t
EmDash’s importer moves posts, pages and terms well, but it leaves gaps: scheduled posts arrive as drafts, shortcodes stay as text, buttons lose their links, and SEO fields, menus and comments are left behind. Closing those gaps is the work we do.

Process
From quote to launch
Quote in 2 business days
Send the form. We look at your site and reply with a fixed price, a list of what moves and what doesn’t, and a start date.
50% deposit
You accept the quote and pay half. We book the start date.
Migration
We import and clean up your content, set up the theme, redirects and SEO fields, on a staging address in your Cloudflare account.
Review
You check the staging site and send us what to change. We fix it before launch.
Launch and 50% balance
When you approve, we switch your domain to the new site and test redirects and email. The balance is due at launch.
30 days of fixes
We watch the 404 log and fix anything we moved or built that doesn’t work as agreed.

Why have us do it
We make the themes and plugins
We make the Astro themes that Starter sites run on, and we write EmDash plugins: Auto Unpublish Posts and Comment Spam Protection are in the EmDash registry. When something needs changing, we change it at the source.
Your accounts, your code
The site runs on your Cloudflare account and its code is in your repository. You keep every login; nothing runs on our servers.
No lock-in
EmDash is open source and your site is a standard Astro project. Any developer can take over after us, and the care plan is optional.
From our test migration
WordPress addresses like /2025/10/post-name/ become /posts/post-name in EmDash. One pattern rule redirects them all, but in our test it missed the trailing-slash form, so we add both and test each with a request.

Questions
Will my site go down during the move?
We don’t plan any downtime. We build the new site on a staging address in your Cloudflare account while WordPress stays online. At launch we point your domain at the new site. WordPress stays available until the checks pass, so you can switch back.
What happens to my email?
We don’t move or touch your mailboxes. If your domain’s DNS moves to Cloudflare, we copy your MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records first and send test mail before and after the switch.
What replaces my WordPress plugins?
EmDash has SEO fields, redirects, menus, bylines and search built in. For the rest, your quote lists what replaces each plugin: one of our EmDash plugins, another plugin from the EmDash registry, a hosted service (for example for forms), or nothing. If a plugin has no replacement, we tell you before you pay anything.
How much will hosting cost compared with WordPress hosting?
You pay Cloudflare directly; we don’t resell hosting. EmDash plugins need Cloudflare’s Workers Paid plan, which starts at $5 a month, and Cloudflare bills usage beyond its included limits. We estimate your monthly cost in the quote.
How long does a migration take?
Starter takes about 1–2 weeks and Standard about 2–3 weeks from the deposit. Custom projects get a date in the quote. Waiting for access or for your review adds to the time.
What if I don’t like the result?
You review the new site on a staging address before anything goes live, and we fix what you find. Standard includes two rounds of design changes. The balance is due only at launch, after you approve the site.
Can I get a refund?
If you cancel before we start, we refund the deposit in full. If you cancel after we start, we refund the part of the deposit that covers work not yet done and hand over what we have built.
Will I lose my search rankings?
Rankings depend mostly on old addresses still working and on keeping your titles and descriptions. We add a 301 redirect for every old address, with and without the trailing slash, carry over your SEO titles and meta descriptions, and submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console if you give us access. We then watch EmDash’s 404 log for 30 days and add any missing redirects. No one can promise rankings, and we don’t.
Who owns the site afterwards?
You do. The site runs on your Cloudflare account, the code is in a repository you own, and you keep every login. EmDash is open source, so any developer can work on the site after us.
Can I edit the site myself after launch?
Yes. You write and edit in the EmDash admin. The care plan is there if you want us to handle updates and small edits; it is optional.
