Design controls

Agency identity
identity.name sets the agency name across the header, footer, page titles and structured data.
Palette and typography
theme.colors controls the colors, while theme.fonts sets the display, body and monospace font stacks.
Home content
home sets the statement, highlighted text, buttons, facts and counts for case studies, packages and journal entries.
Capability matrix
matrix.enabled switches off the matrix page, home section and navigation link.
Package payments
commerce.enabled switches off packages, prices, checkout links and the cart; capabilities become a grouped list.
Project enquiry
contact.formAction sets the HTTPS endpoint for the enquiry form; without it, visitors get a prefilled email link.
Footer text
footer.attribution controls the editable credit, and footer.note holds the demo notice.

Features

  • The capability matrix compares grouped capabilities across packages and pins the first column while visitors scroll sideways on phones.
  • Package pages explain deposits, fixed prices and monthly fees, with estimated totals, timelines and included capabilities.
  • Case studies show results, client details and the capabilities used, with archives organized by sector.
  • Each package product or variant can link to Stripe Payment Links, Polar, Lemon Squeezy or Shopify checkout.
  • The optional Stripe Checkout cart needs a server adapter and your own Stripe secret key.
  • Careers pages show role details and closing dates, with applications sent to your chosen HTTPS form or email address.

What the download includes

  • Signal 1.0.0 supplies Astro source and typed Markdown content for packages, package types, capabilities, case studies, roles, journal entries and pages.
  • The demo includes 18 CC0 photographs with source and creator records in ASSETS.json.
  • The bundled Bricolage Grotesque Bold display font includes its SIL Open Font License; body text and labels use system fonts.
  • README and GETTING-STARTED cover installation, content editing, payment setup and deployment.
  • CUSTOMIZE.md and AGENTS.md provide guidance for customization and editing with any coding agent.

Setup

  1. Start with Node 24 LTS or Node 22 LTS at version 22.19.0 or later.
  2. Install dependencies using npm ci, then start npm run dev and visit the address Astro prints.
  3. Replace demo content and photographs, and set your agency identity, HTTPS domain and feature switches in src/site.config.ts.
  4. Add checkout links for your packages and test them with your provider; enabling the optional cart requires a server adapter and your Stripe secret key.
  5. Switch to the optional EmDash edition with npm run emdash:setup and deploy it on Node.js or Cloudflare.
  6. Validate your edits with npm run check, npm test and npm run build before uploading dist/ at your domain root or deploying a server build.

Signal is a $47 USD one-time Astro site template for development, marketing and consulting agencies. The demo uses a fictional ten-person web development agency in Pittsburgh as example content you replace. A large statement opens the home page, followed by case studies, package comparisons, service prices, your technology stack, open roles and journal entries. Condensed headings, numbered sections, square frames and blue and green accents give these sections a consistent structure.

The signature capability matrix puts grouped capabilities in rows and packages in columns, with inclusion markers and a price row. It uses a plain HTML table without JavaScript and scrolls within its own frame on phones while keeping the first column visible. Case study pages pair the project story with results and the capabilities used. Extras can be switched off in src/site.config.ts: matrix.enabled removes the matrix page, home section and menu link, while commerce.enabled removes packages and payment features and presents capabilities as a grouped list.

For agencies selling packages, each package product or variant can carry a checkout link from Stripe Payment Links, Polar, Lemon Squeezy or Shopify. Your payment provider handles the payment and order record. Packages can display a deposit with an estimated total, a fixed price or a monthly fee. The optional Stripe Checkout cart needs a server adapter and your own Stripe secret key; Signal’s cart was tested with mocked Stripe only. The project enquiry form posts to a configurable HTTPS endpoint that you set up with a form service. Without that endpoint, the Contact page offers a prefilled email link; the theme itself does not store or send messages.

Edit the default content in Markdown and manage identity, navigation, wording and appearance in src/site.config.ts. CUSTOMIZE.md and AGENTS.md guide customization and edits with any coding agent. For the optional EmDash edition, switch with npm run emdash:setup on Node.js or Cloudflare, then edit menus and site settings in EmDash. Replace the fictional clients, results, people and roles, and rewrite the sample deposits, terms and privacy pages before publishing.
