Site Editor
Edit the masthead, footer, navigation and templates with core blocks in Appearance → Editor. No page builder.
Homepage sections
Lead story, headline band and feed are Query Loops; change counts and offsets in the editor.
Story photo shape
Choose 3:2, 4:3, square or 16:9 for feed and related-story photos.
Layout density
Compact, comfortable or spacious spacing for lists, the feed and sections.
Story details in lists
Show or hide date, category and standfirst in homepage lists, Journal, archives, search and related stories.
Reading width and article options
Article text width 520–1040px, spacing, image corners and an optional reading progress line.
Colours and style variations
Recolour the green palette, or switch to Clear (sans throughout) or Literary.
Fonts
Vollkorn and DM Sans are served from your own site; choose other fonts in Styles → Typography.

Setup

  1. Upload the theme ZIP at Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme and activate it.
  2. Optional: import sample content with the demo importer (1.1.1 or newer).
  3. Under Settings → Reading choose Your latest posts.
  4. Create a page with the slug journal and assign the Journal: all stories by date template.
  5. Write stories as posts with a featured image, excerpt, one category and tags.
