Design controls

Site Editor
Edit the masthead, compact header, footer, navigation and templates with core blocks in Appearance → Editor. No page builder.
Issue band and sections
The issue number and season are plain text; each homepage section is a Query Loop with its own count, offset and category filter.
Cover photograph shape
Panoramic, wide, classic or tall crop for the cover and story lead photographs.
Section density
Compact, comfortable or spacious spacing between sections.
List details
Show or hide categories and dates in contents lists and article rows.
Reading width and article options
Article width 520–1040px, spacing, image corners and an optional reading progress line.
Colours and style variations
Recolour Petrol, Ice, Coral, Ink and Paper, or switch to Clear or Literary.
Magazine block styles
Kicker paragraph and Captioned plate image styles for feature layouts.
Fonts
Roboto Condensed and Source Serif 4 are served from your own site; choose other fonts in Styles → Typography.

Setup

  1. Upload the theme ZIP at Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme and activate it.
  2. Optional: import sample content with the demo importer (1.1.1 or newer).
  3. Create a Journal page with the Journal: all stories template, or set it as the Posts page.
  4. Publish about eight stories with featured images to fill every homepage section.
  5. Edit the issue band and masthead in Appearance → Editor → Templates → Front Page.
